As a child my parents would take my sisters and I on long driving holidays. I reflect back on these trips within my works and how they influenced my love for the Australian landscape, its colour, contrast for dark shadows and intense light and often its broodiness.

Today I endeavor to create uncomplicated, understated, contemporary landscape paintings, void of people, but not always human presence, in an attempt to capture distinctively Australian landscapes, but not one that you would see on a postcard. Capturing the changing mood, colour and light of the sky and its effect on the landscape, is a major element in my compositions in an attempt to remind people of the magnificence that passes us by every day.

My choice of not only subject matter, but also of materials (oil on plywood) has been greatly influenced by the works of Australian Impressionists, as such Arthur Streeton and Charles Conder. Like them, I look to represent an uncomplicated beauty within the Australian landscape and by allowing the grain of the wood to show through the paint, I also hope to embody a sense of nostalgia in the works.

Born in 1978, I have lived and worked in Sydney. I completed an Advanced Diploma of Fine Arts at the Sydney Gallery School, in 1998. Over the past 18 years, I have exhibited works in solo and group shows throughout Sydney and have recently turned my art into my full-time career.
