MINHAN CHO

Korean born Minhan Cho studied pottery at Seoul National University of Technology before moving to Melbourne in 2009. It was here he studied furniture making, working in the industry for eight years, whilst also teaching himself to draw and paint. After moving to Moreton Bay in 2018, he has been able to immerse himself in nature and become a full-time artist.

Minhan explores different techniques and effects, using various brushes and knives to control paint and its consistency. Influenced by late impressionist painters - Vincent Van Gogh, Édouard Manet, Nicolai Fechin and Claude Monet - he uses an improvised ‘alla prima’ technique* showing the mixture of washed area, sketch lines and thick brush strokes.

Minhan’s mission is to discover beauty in ordinary everyday life, energetic paintings through improvised but concise brush strokes.
